5Rhythms UNCHAINED – Amnesty International Benefit

Amnesty 2

The first of this year’s 5th Friday Specials at Bethesda will be a Benefit. All proceeds after expenses will be donated to Amnesty International, the worldwide grassroots movement of people campaigning to protect human rights.

Jan 30th 2015, 8.00 – 10.00 pm       (More about Amnesty International below)

All over the world people are imprisoned for choosing authenticity.

Let us not squander our freedom or take it for granted. Instead, let us dance together deeper into our authenticity and contribute our little piece towards the freedom of others.

Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking part of ourselves that yearns to be free.

See Bethesda Classes for all details, but do Feel free to give more: it will go to Amnesty, not to us!

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL’s VISION

“We have a vision of a world in which every person enjoys all of the rights stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.

When those human rights are violated, we:

Search out the facts,

Expose what is happening,

Mobilize people to put pressure on governments and others to stop the violations.

Around the world we protect people and communities who come under attack, encourage governments and others to respect human rights and raise awareness of the international standards that protect us all.”

I have emailed but not posted about this.

My new colleague Ann Kite will be teaching a 5 Hour workshop in Bethesda tomorrow Sunday Dec 7th. You can pay on the door ($100) but it would be helpful to let Sue Green know beforehand.

Claire & I shall be dancing there of course.

Today is the second anniversary of Gabrielle’s passing. Click on image to see the video of her ashes being scattered from a mountain in Utah at the conclusion of the recent Teacher Training.

The fall is always a 5Rhythms anniversary time for me: 18 years since I started to dance with Sue Rickards in London; 14 years since I started teaching the London Elders at Gabrielle’s suggestion; 13 years since I became a certified teacher; 9 years since I met my wife Claire on the dance-floor in London. . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . And last Friday we celebrated 10 years of the bethesda 5Rhythms tribe.

Dance on!

Halloween (5th Friday at Bethesda)

We shall be holding special events whenever we can dance on a 5th Friday of the month.
First up is Halloween!
Come as an ancestor, come as your power animal, come as your sweet moving self to our Halloween Special. We shall dance into our breath and body and then beyond to join the spirit world in movement. We shall take time to recognize and celebrate those who have gone before us and time too to recognize and celebrate the resilience of our 5Rhythms community.
Come in costume, or mask, or both. Bring mementos for our altar. But don’t feel that you have to do that in order to dance: a body willing to move is the most precious gift you can bring!

Do pre-book for Kali Yoga classes!

The introductory Moving The Spirit class booked up amazingly quickly: there wasn’t room for my wife and we had to turn 3 people away from the door. (We did recommend booking!)

So we strongly recommend booking before going to any of the Class Series in the fall (2nd & 4th Sats in Sept & Oct). -And of course you can save money by booking all four for $60. Otherwise they are $20 each.
